Following is heat treatment way of 1.2714 forged bars
Soft Annealing
Heat to 650-700o
C, cool slowly in furnace. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 248.
Stress Relieving
Stress relieving to remove machining stresses should be carried out by heating to 650o
C, holding for one hour at heat, followed by air cooling. This operation is performed to reduce distortion during heat treatment.
Hardening
Oil: Harden from a temperature of 830-870o
C followed by oil quenching. Hardness after quenching is 58 HRC.
Air: Harden from a temperature of 830-900o
C followed by air quenching. Hardness after quenching is 56 HRC.
Mechanical Properties of the Raw Material of 55 NiCrMo V7 forging gear shafts
Softened delivery condition - hardness: <248 HB
Hardness after tempering at a temperature:
300℃ = ~54 HRC
350℃ = ~52 HRC
400℃ = ~51 HRC
450℃ = ~50 HRC
500℃ = ~49 HRC
550℃ = ~48 HRC
600℃ = ~46 HRC
All 1.2714 forged flat bars are ultrasonically tested, according to ASTM A578 - S9 specification.
Grain size Uniform 7/8 grain size according to ASTM E 112 method.
FOllowing is inspection standard of 55 NiCrMo V7 Forged steel material
ASTM E 8 Tension Testing of Metallic Materials
ASTM E 8M Tension Testing of Metallic Materials (Metric)
ASTM E 10 Brinell Hardness of Metallic Materials
