Description
We are professionbal Forged Steel Non-Magnetic Steel Drill Collar from china
The size of Forged steel drill collars that we could produce in ODs from 2-7/8" to 14"
Drill collars are the auxiliary equipment applied at the bottom of drill string. It is a key part of the bottom hole assembly. Great wall thickness and gravity are the main features of drilling collars. The wall thickness is typically 38 ~ 53mm, which is equal to 4 to 6 times of drill pipe. Due to special working environment, drill collars needs to have good rigidity in exposing pressure on drill bit in the process of rock fragmentation and playing a leading role in the straight-hole drilling. Non-magnetic drill collars are used with MWD and LWD in directional drilling applications to allow magnetic measurements of well trajectories using instruments within the drill string. A magnetic measuring device (MWD) works in the hole of a non-magnetic drill collar and can measure the Earth's magnetic field without magnetic interference. The measuring instruments are isolated from magnetic interference and steel components in the drill pipe.

Alloy STeel AISI 4140,AISI 4130, 4330V, 4145H MOD
Austenitic Stainless Steel Drill Collars
Austenitic stainless steel alloys like 254SMO and 655 provide non-magnetic properties while matching the strength of conventional steel collars. The austenitic microstructures limit magnetic permeability. Their high chromium and nickel contents also boost corrosion resistance.Austenitic steel collars are the most cost-effective non-magnetic option. Vigor utilizes high-strength non-magnetic alloys including P530, P550,and P650.
Reinforcing nickel alloy or MONEL drill collars with tungsten carbide or carbon fiber composites further enhances strength and abrasion resistance. The non-metallic reinforcements reduce weight versus solid metal alternatives while preserving non-magnetic traits. Compositecollars are ideal for extended reach drilling. such as inconel 925,monel k500
Titanium Drill Collars
Titanium grades like 3Al-2.5V offer the highest strength-to-weight ratio of non-magnetic drilling collar materials. The low density of titaniumenables larger collar sizes to increase moment of inertia without excessive drill string weight. Titanium collars excel in offshore and other weight-limited applications.
ALl our forging steel drill collars are use electric remelt furnaces, ladle refining and vacuum degassing.
Raw material consists of selected steel scrap and ferroalloys. Special care is taken to produce a clean and uniform steel during this triple melting process.
The chemistry of the steel is verified continuously by 10 chemical analyses during the melting process. Further cleaning of the steel is provided with the bottom pouring method for ingots of larger sizes.
Forgings Drill Collars are tough, ductile, have uniform grain flow and metallurgical structures to assure material integrity, fatigue resistance and strength.
The forging cycle on a radial hammer forge is extremely short and excellent timetemperature control can be achieved.
Non-Destructive testing of finished forged Drill collars
Magnetic inspection: Drill collars are 100% tested by a proprietary probe-testing process using a Forster Magnetomat 1.782. ("Hot Spot"-test). Magnetic permeability of each collar is certified with the printout of probe-testing.
Ultrasonic inspection: Each collar is ultrasonically inspected over 100% of the volume according to ASTM E 114, last edition as a minimum level.
