AMS 6260,AMS 6265 ,AMS 6267 is a Chromium-Nickel-Molybdenum Alloy used as a Carburizing Grade for Aircraft Parts. Users can obtain high case hardness coupled with high core strength and toughness. High alloy content makes it suitable for use in relatively large cross-sections. Its combination of high alloy and low carbon content can achieve high core hardness with a narrow range between thicker and thinner part cross sections.
The melting methods of AMS 6260,AMS 6265 ,AMS 6267 forged materialis as follows: The Steel shall be made using the basic electric furnace process with either the Electro-Slag Re-Melt (ESR) or Vacuum- Arc-Re-Melt(VAR) process. Alloy melting requirements shall be compatible with AMS5773E.

Qualification of manufacturing procedure of AMS 6260,AMS 6265 ,AMS 6267 forging parts
The Manufacturing Process Plan (MPP) shall be submitted to the approval of clients Material
& Process Engineering dept. clients before qualification procedure begins. It shall detail at least
the following:
• type of ingot (supplier, manufacturing process, dimensions, and tests to beperformed);
• forging process;
• heat treatment process;
• tests on component.
In general, dissection of the first piece within the terms detailed in the part specification is required.
This activity may be omitted, upon decision of clients, if the supplier has already proven to be able to successfully produce components of similar shape, dimensions and manufacturing
process.
ALl our finished forged AMS 6260,AMS 6265 ,AMS 6267parts should be accepted by the QC department of the manufacturer by conducting the following
examinations:
1) external examination;
2) a check of dimensions and marking;
3) chemical composition examination;
4) mechanical tests;
5) macrostructure examination;
6) residual stress measurement;
7) ultrasonic testing;
8) periscopic testing.
