1.4301 is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel. It is also known as 18/8 stainlesssteel. This is chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel. The chromium element gives it excellent corrosion resistance. It has a tensile strength of 500 – 700 MPa. It has good machinability but low thermal conductivity. It is used in kitchen equipment such as pans, tubes, sinks and many more. It is easily formable. Due to its excellent resistance to corrosion, it is widely used in the food and beverage industry, as well as in many other industries.

Forging way of 1.4301 forged parts is as following:
Material 1.4301 has good forging properties. After slow heating to approx. 1150°C - 1180°C, the material can be forged in the range of approx. 1180 - 950 °C. Cooling after forging should take place in water or air.
Heat treatment way of 1.4301 forged bars is as follows
Solution heat treatment (cooling by air or water): 1000-1100 °C
Hot forming (cooling by air): 1200-900 °C
