AISI 6150 is a fine grained, highly abrasion resistant carbon-chromium alloy steel. Very good shock resistance and toughness are also key properties of this alloy in the heat treated condition.
Steel making Process of AISI 6150 forging round bars
Electric arc furnace or blast furnace and oxygen blast converter shall be used, each with subsequent ladle treatment;
Steel shall be vacuum degassed;
Steel shall be non-radioactive;
Quality class shall beat least MQ in accordance with ISO 6336-5 or DIN 3990-5;
Standard EN 10083 shall be followed.
Chemical composition of UNS G61500 forged parts
Chemical analysis shall be made from a test sample taken just prior to the pouring or during pouring and shall conform to the chemical requirements in the following table:

Grain Size of AISI 6150 forging round bars
Grain size G6 and finer; G5 grains are acceptable only if isolated and individual in accordance with EN-ISO 643 or DIN 50601 or ASTM E112-96.
The suppliershall provide in its certificate the grain size.
Following is heat treatment of AISI 6150 forging parts
Harden at 1600 F and oil quench. Temper for desired properties. Normalizing can be accomplished by heating to 1650 F followed by air cooling. Typical Brinell hardness - 260.

- Nondestructive testing records,
- Results of all Mechanical Tests,
-Results of residual stress measurements (for process qualification),
- All probable deviation reports,
- Certification of NDT inspector,
- Dimensional and visual inspection report,
- Cleaning Verified
MARKING of our finished forged AISI 6150 bars
Each part shall be stamped with:
The purchaser's part number
The purchaser's purchase number
The individual number
The heat number,if traceability to heat number is not possible by the individual number
The marking shall be surrounded by a frame or painted over with white durable paint.
