1.4886 is similar to austenitic stainless steel except for greater high temperature strength. It is designed to operate in high-temperature together with carburizing, nitridizing and cyaniding environments. It performs well under cyclic conditions of heating / cooling and carburizing / oxidizing atmospheres.

Following is heat treatment way of 1.4886 forged material
it should be carried out annealed in a temperature range of 1870-2050ºF (1020-1120ºC). Water quenching provides the optimum creep resistance, but rapid air cooling to below 800ºF (425ºC) may also be utilized.
