This steel is used for applications requiring high tensile strengths for which more drastic quenches would produce distortion or cracking, especially in parts of intricate design. 835M30 (EN 30B) is stocked as round black bar.

Electric arc furnace or blast furnace and oxygen blast converter shall be used, each with subsequent ladle treatment;
Steel shall be vacuum degassed;
Steel shall be non-radioactive;
Quality class shall beat least MQ in accordance with ISO 6336-5 or DIN 3990-5;
Standard EN 10083 shall be followed.
Chemical composition of EN30B forged parts
Chemical analysis shall be made from a test sample taken just prior to the pouring or during pouring and shall conform to the chemical requirements in the following table:
