17CrNiMo6 is Chrome – Nickel – Moly carburising steel, generally supplied annealed to HB 229 max. Carburised and heat treated it develops a hard wear resistant case of about Rc 60-63 and a tough strong core with a typical tensile strength range of 900-1300 MPa, in small to fairly large sections.

Hardening: Hardening Temperature 860° C +/- 10° C
Hold Time 2h
Quenched in a fluid medium
Tempering: Tempering Temperature 160° - 210° C

Residual Magnetic Field and Radioactivity of 17CrNiMo6,17CrNiMo7,18NCD6,820A16 forging rings
Freedom from radioactive contaminations must be ensured by measurement at the still mill. The inspection instruction together with the defined acceptance limits must be submitted.
Furthermore the certificate must confirm that the steel is free of radioactive contaminations and the desired value of max. 8 A/cm residual magnetic field strength is met.

The parts must be marked with suitable weather resistant, adhesive labels that can be viewed regardless of the packaging of shipment. The labels have to insure definite material traceability.
