TBM disc cutter is a disc-shaped roller cutter mounted on the cutterhead of tunnel boring machine, which is an excavation tool for breaking hard rocks. The type of disc cutters, in different sizes and specifications, can be mounted on the cutter heads of large trenchless construction equipment such as TBMs, shield machines, MTBMs, pipe jacking machines, shaft boring extension machines, and are widely used in subway tunnels, railway tunnels, diversion tunnels, urban underground pipe network construction, mining and other industries.
TBM cutter rings must be highly wear resistant and robust because they serve as the key excavation component.
Standard cutter rings are forged with alloy tool steel and heat-treated to HRC56-58 with an ideal balance between hardness and toughness, making them suitable for soft ground to mixed ground.
Heavy duty cutter rings are forged with alloy tool steel and particularly heat-treated to HRC57-59 with an ideal balance between hardness and toughness to avoid curling and fracturing, so they are suitable for hard rock and abrasive rock.
cutter rings are inserted with tungsten carbide tips and suitable for abrasive but not hard ground. The undulating nature of we would help the cutter to rotate in the low strength but abrasive rock, and avoid flat spotting.
The cutter rings are manufactured with ideal profile and tip width, usually 13mm to 25mm depending on ground conditions, in order to achieve high excavating efficiency and long lifetime.
Our TBM cutter rings can be interchanged completely with Herrenknecht, Palmieri, Robbins, and Wirth cutter rings.
