2.4880 is is a solid-solution-strengthened nickel-cobalt-chromium-silicon alloy with outstanding resistance to various forms of hightemperature corrosion attack.
2.4880 has excellent resistance to sulfidation and chloride attack in both reducing and oxidizing atmospheres.
2.4880 also has exceptionally good resistance to oxidation,hot corrosion, carburization,metal dusting, nitridation and
corrosion attack by low melting point compounds such as thoseformed by phosphorus, vanadium, and other impurities. The
2.4880 is especially suited for applications in high temperature corrosive environments generated by combustion of lowgrade fuels or processing of chemical feedstocks with corrosive contaminants such as sulfur, chlorine, fluorine, vanadium, phosphorus, and others.
2.4880 is capable of withstanding temperatures up to 2200°F (1204°C).
Forgings 2.4880 maeterial shall be manufactured from steel produced by vacuum induction melting 1 electro-slag re-melting {VIM/ESR) or by vacuum induction melting 1 vacuum are re-melting (VIM/VAR) process.
The hot working shall be done in such a way that a uniform fine grained microstructure is achieved.
The forgings 2.4880 forged parts shall be free from defects such as cracks, flakes, seams, segregation, non-metallic inclusionsand other defects which may affect the utility of the forgings.

solution annealed condition,unless otherwise specified. The alloy is solution annealed at 2050°F (1121°C) and rapidly cooled for optimum properties.Intermediate annealing, if required during fabrication and forming operations, can be performed at temperatures as low as 1950°F (1066°C)
