AMS 5936 is is a premium double vacuum melted martensitic Stainless Steel manufactured by Carpenter Technology Corporation. This material is an excellent combination of strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance. It possesses high strength and toughness, has relative ease of fabrication, and provides reliable, long-term service in corrosive environments. The typical strength of this alloy can be as high as 1758 MPa (255 ksi), combined with fracture toughness of about 88-99 MPa-square-root-meter (80-90 ksi-square-root inch) and corrosion resistance approaching that of Type 304 stainless.

Heat Treatment of AMS 5936 Stainless Steel forged marterial is as following
The standard heat treatment for Stainless Steel AMS 5936 is done on a solution-annealed material.
Heat the part to 1800° F ± 15° F (982° C ± 8° C) and hold at that temperature for one hour. Then cool rapidly by quenching for parts under 12’’, or air cool swiftly for parts over 12’’.
Refrigerate to -100° F (-73° C) and hold for eight hours, followed by warming to room temperature.
To achieve high strength levels of AMS 5936 (Condition H 900, H 950, H 1000, H 1050, and H 1100), an additional age hardening step is required:
Heat the part to 900-1150° F (482-621° C) and hold for four to eight hours, followed by air cooling for section sizes under 3’’ or quenching for sizes over 3’’. Please note that increasing the temperature increases the toughness of the part, without any significant effect on strength.
